I am not sure where the cutesy term “selfie” came from, but I can’t help putting a fake smile on my face and saying it in a slightly higher pitch than my typical Barry White tone. I might even snap a super sweet selfie every once in a while, as evidenced by this amazing picture. Bet you didn’t know the mayor is an avid selfie taker.
The Confluence Conference selfie contest was born out of a touch of laziness. We discussed having a photographer on standby to snap swanky photos of all the well-dressed attendees. That didn’t work out. At the same meeting, we were trying to figure out contests to give away all of our goods. BOOM! The selfie contest was born.
I was surprised you people were willing to jump right in and make yourselves look like fools, but luckily you were. The incentives were in place.
Phone cases from Case Studio, coffee from Elemental Coffee Roasters, a backpack from BWAP Backpacks, and some questionable looking Dominican Republic cigars that David brought back from Punta Cana (nudge, wink) were among the bounty at hand.
Vincent from Home Creations was the winner of the selfie contest with this creepy selfie. He took home the BWAP Backpack. I shutter just looking at this photo. Well done, Vincent.
Cayla won the Remington Park horse name contest. The name “Spotty Internet” seemed relevant at the time and brought home the $1000 prize.
So… Cayla… 20 people in a Remington Park suite, huh? Sounds pretty cool. I wish I could do something like that. I mean… if you have an extra spot I may be able to clear my calendar. Just let me know. You can find me here, here, here, here, here, here and sometimes here.
Here are some of the highlights from the selfie contest.
About Kyle Elrod
I was born back in October of 1985. I spent my childhood getting my lumps in the mean streets of Enid, Oklahoma. I survived those harsh adolescent years and made my way to the University of Oklahoma. I decided to study the ancient art of advertising at the Gaylord School of Mass Communication. I fumbled around for a short while before landing a gig in the digital marketing department with OPUBCO. This is where I spend my time and use my talents.
